Where I Love to Play
We are blessed with a pretty good live music scene in the Bryan-College Station area.
I love to play at The Wine Depot on University Drive in College Station. Check it out if you haven’t been there. Great place to take the wife for a cool evening, maybe an anniversary. You also get to see all of Benjamin Knox’s cool artwork.
I’ve played at the Burleson County Opry in Chriesman for about 10 years. Just a small place out in the country with lots of kind folks who love old time music. I play on the second Saturday. The ladies make some great food, and the music’s good. Check it out sometime. Live music on the second and third Saturdays.
The Village Cafe in Bryan is a special place. Great stage, cool ambiance. A real folkly kind of place with cool people with good musical tastes. Don’t play there too often, two or three times a year. But I like the feel. Check this place out. They always have something cool going on there, and the menu is great.
Just discovered The Stone Cellar in Round Top. Played an instrumental show there on Oct. 11. Very nice place. Great patio area and a good place to hang out and watch a ballgame on the big screen TV.
Just finished playing Boonville Pioneer Days Festival at the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History. Great place to play old-time music and hang out. Happens every October. Go if you get the chance.
Also played at the Sherwood Forest Texas Music Jamboree Fest in September. Played on one of the small stages. They are just getting this going, but check it out next year. I think this will grow. Lost of musical talent there. This is off U.S. Highway 290 in McDade — on your way westward like you are headed to Austin. They also have a lot of other cool things at Sherwood Forest, Celtic Fests and things like that.
Glad I discovered the Kenny Store in Kenney, Texas — on the other side of Brenham. Cool crowd of people, and there is always some good live music there. I sang and played instrumentals there a couple of times. Really nice place with an old-time Texas feel to it. Great food also.
Love to play Art Galleries wherever. Art shows are perfect for my instrumental stuff. I will soon fill you in on a cool new place in Brenham where I will play.
Mobius coffee house in Brenham on Market Street is special. Love to play there, usually two or three times a year. Very laid-back folks there, and they appreciate music. Usually just a small crowd but fun. And the pizzas are great.
Plan to do even more in 2016. Will keep you up to date on this web site. (Events Calendar)
